Third Win of 2009 for Haegele Racing
September 23, 2009Saturday night, September 5th, the 61 lined up 4th for the heat race. Once underway, Jon battled with the 96 of Gabe Fox for several laps before taking the lead on lap 5, and going on to the checkered flag. The heat race win gave Jon a 4th place starting position for the 20 lap feature. Starting on the outside in the 2nd row meant his chances of victory were pretty good. After a few adjustments and a quick wash, we were ready to race. Jon wasted no time grabbing the 2nd position, putting pressure on the leader. He tried the inside and the outside, and each time the 96 shut the door. The yellow flag flew for a wreck in turn 1, and Jon lined up on the outside of the front row. Getting a good run, Jon completed the pass for the lead on the back straightaway. Yet another yellow came out and bunched up the field.
On the restart, Jon applied too much speed going into turn 1, and the 2nd and 3rd place cars shot by on the inside, putting the 61 back into the 3rd position. On the next lap, Jon regained the 2nd spot from John Micek. Jon set his sights on the leader and once again tried high and low to make the pass. With 8 laps to go, the 96 did a solo spin in front of the field, and the 61 grabbed the lead. Even with a few more yellow flags and restarts, Jon was able to hold off Micek’s challenges for the 3rd win of the season.
A few weeks ago, the car came up 2 pounds light on the scale. Not one to make the same mistake twice, this time the car was a whopping 58 pounds over the minimum weight requirement. After victory lane ceremonies, it was off to tech. The lengthy inspection did not uncover any problems, and we were able to enjoy the biggest win of the year. The season is winding down, and the 61 is commanding the Crate 1 division with a 72 point lead. Final Race of 2009 is October 3rd at New Egypt Speedway.

Third Win of 2009 for Haegele Racing
Dirt Racing News - Horton + Valken Dirt Modified Wheels = Victory
August 3, 2009HORTON TAKES BIEVER’S MODIFIED TWICE TO VICTORY LANE AT BRIDGEPORT
SPEEDWAY
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (August 2, 2009) - On Bike Night at Bridgeport Speedway, Jimmy Horton took Dick Biever’s Alpha Mills Modified to victory lane twice as he captured both 25-Lap Big Block Modified features. Frank Dorry, Jr. was the victor in the 358 Sportsman contest. The GM Sportsman feature was won by Eric Kormann.
Stan Frankenfield, Jr. took the lead at the drop of the green in the regularly scheduled 25-Lap Big Block feature with Steve Durand, Ryan Watt and Jimmy Horton in pursuit. Horton began his drive to the front as he passed Watt for third on lap 5 and motored by Durand on lap 7 to move into the runner-up spot. Also on lap 7, Wade Hendrickson, who started the feature in the ninth position, swept by Durand to gain third place. Horton hounded Frankenfield, Jr. for a few laps before taking over the lead on lap 11. Once in front, Horton successfully negotiated the lap traffic in the caution free event to win his second feature of the year. Hendrickson worked his way up to second place on lap 16 and finished in the runner up spot. Third place went to Watt with Chad James finishing in the fourth position. Frankenfield, Jr. and Chic Cossaboone battled for fifth position in the final laps with Frankenfield, Jr. regaining the spot at the finish line. The Big Block Modified qualifying races were won by Horton, Frankenfield, Jr. and Cossaboone.
In the makeup Big Block Modified feature from Saturday, July 25th, Mike Franz took the lead at the start with Ryan Watt, Ron Roberts and Jimmy Horton in the chase. After multiple cautions and restarts following the completion of one lap of racing, Watt escalated to the front with Horton jumping into second place on lap 2. One circuit later, Horton was leading the pack. After Stan Frankenfield’s ride stopped in turn 2 on lap 4, Steve Durand, Steve Bottcher and Wade Hendrickson were all able to get by Franz on the resumption of action to take third, fourth and fifth respectively. Hendrickson charged past Bottcher and Durand to take third place on lap 8. One tour later, Bottcher got past Hendrickson following another caution and restart. At the halfway point, Horton had built a comfortable six second lead over the pack. On lap 15, Hendrickson’s machine billowed smoke causing the yellow lights to flicker again. When the green waved again, the second and third place cars of Watt and Bottcher tangled briefly and caused Watt to lose a few spots. Durand took advantage of the situation and became the new man in second place. Durand’s second place run came to an end on lap 18 as he slowed down in turn four to bring out the final caution of the event. On the last restart, Horton fought back a strong challenge from Bottcher to keep his lead and went on to claim his second checkered flag of the evening and third of the year. With the two victories on this night, Horton now has 117 career wins at Bridgeport Speedway. Bottcher finished in second place with Chad James coming home in third. Watt fought his way back to a fourth place finish and Scott Irwin wound up in fifth place.
Racing News - Jimmy Horton Takes Down Another Modified Win!
July 6, 2009
New Egypt, NJ (July 4, 2009) - Jimmy Horton invaded the New Egypt Speedway on Saturday night and captured the Yankee Classic BPG/Hooters Tri-Track Series event, sponsored by RJS Heating and Air Conditioning & H&H Gas. Horton, a former 2 time Modified track champ at NES, passed race leader Rick Laubach with 12 laps remaining and went on to post his second Series victory. The win was Horton’s 16th of his career at New Egypt Speedway.
Horton fell back from his second row starting spot to 8th in thefirst few laps, but quickly righted the ship and began his march back to the front. With pole sitter Laubach in control early, defending champ Billy Pauch passed Tim Tanner for second and began to apply steady pressure to the leader. Meanwhile Horton had snuck back into the picture, and on a lap 9 restart he ducked under Pauch to take over second. With much of the field using the low groove on the slick racing surface, Horton went to the middle of the track and got his car to work with a combination of a great set-up and excellent throttle control. Lap after lap he gained a few more feet on Laubach, until he eventually just wore him down, taking command of the event in turn three as he went around Laubach. Once in front he opened up about a five car length advantage, until the final lap, when in true NES fashion Laubach made a desperate but well-timed charge on the final turn, only to fall short by 1 car length. Laubach settled for second, while Pauch watched the battle from his front row seat in third. Tom Carberry completed an impressive run coming home fourth while Willie Osmun completed the top five.
JESSE HILL WINS THE MR. 358 SPORTSMAN CHAMPIONSHIP RACE AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

BRIDGEPORT, NJ (July 5, 2009) - On Armed Forces Night at Bridgeport Speedway, the Mr. 358 Sportsman Championship event was won by Jesse Hill. David Bell was the victor in the GM Sportsman feature with Jimmy Anderson taking the Rookie GM Sportsman race. The Proformance Outlaw Stock Car main event was won by Pat Conaway. Jimmy Hughes claimed the 4-Cylinder Stock Car feature and John Wyers took the checkered flag in the Bridgeport Limited Sprint contest.
John Cavallaro took the lead at the drop of the green flag in the 25-Lap Mr. 358 Sportsman Championship feature with Jarrad Miller, Don Bogey and Ron Roberts in pursuit. The action slowed down on lap 3 when Bogey’s car spun in turn three. When the green waved again, Miller worked his way past Cavallaro for the lead. Cavallaro dropped back a couple more spots as Roberts motored into second on lap 5 with Yaple taking third on lap 6. With a majority of the cars hugging the low groove, thirteenth place starter Jesse Hill was sing the high side of the speedway and advanced up to fourth place on lap 12. Also on lap 12, the second caution of the event occurred for multi-car tangle. Miller kept his lead on the restart but Hill jumped up to the runner-up spot. On the fourteenth circuit of the race, Hill used the outside lane to gain the top spot from Miller. With the lead, Hill outlasted two final yellow flags to gain his third win of the year and his thirteenth career victory in the extra distance event. Roberts took back the second spot from Miller on lap 15 and was the next to follow Hill at the checkered flag. Kevin Collins came back from an early race visit to the pits to finish in third place. Yaple wound up in fourth place with Travis Hill coming home in fifth place. Miller did cross the finish line in fourth place but was unfortunately disqualified for not making the minimum weight. The 358 Sportsman heat winners were Cavallaro, Yaple and Miller.
